Corbyn open to early prison releases of some terror offenders

United Kingdom Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn said on Sunday that terror offenders should “not necessarily” serve full sentences behind bars, thus disagreeing on the matter with Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“I think it depends on the circumstances, it depends on the sentence but crucially depends on what they’ve done in prison,” Corbyn stated during the Sophy Ridge on Sunday show on Sky News and noted probation needs to be looked at. However, the Labour leader noted that the police were right to shoot the London Bridge attacker dead on Friday as they “had no choice.”

On Saturday, Johnson claimed that all “really serious, violent offenders” should serve their full prison sentences. His comments came after Usman Khan, who was released after serving only half of his sentence over a terror plot to bomb the London Stock Exchange, stabbed two people to death near London Bridge.
