China’s inflation down to 0.9% in January

China’s consumer price index (CPI) landed below market estimates in January, increasing by 0.9% on an annual basis, according to a report by the country’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), released on Wednesday.

The year-on-year number marks a decrease compared to last month’s figure of 1.5%. Meanwhile, consumer prices on a monthly basis landed at 0.4%, rising by 0.7 percentage points from the figure seen in December.

The NBS data also showed that the country’s producer price index (PPI) for the month increased by 9.1% year on year.
