Chinese firms lead way in climate-linked revenues – HSBC

Companies from China are leading the way on a list of firms that have the highest climate-related revenues globally, South China Morning Post reported, citing an HSBC Climate Solutions Database study.

Out of 300 companies that saw their revenues connected to climate products rise 10% or more between 2014 and 2019, 28% came from China. Firms from the United States were second as they amounted to 14% of the group of 300, while 12% of the companies came from Japan. The research project included a total of 3,000 companies. According to HSBC, a number of companies outperformed the FTSE All-World Index, including Chinese Hongfa Technology, Tianjin Zhonghuan and Shanghai Electric.

“Rising investments in clean technologies, which is aided by global climate goals as well as regional policy support, has lured many companies to increase their climate exposure,” HSBC climate change strategist, Ashim Paun, stated.
