FAA called on to publish Boeing 737 MAX review data
Democratic Senators Richard Blumenthal and Ed Markey requested on Tuesday that the United States Federal Aviation Administration releases data relating to the review of Boeing Co.’s 737 MAX airplane.
The regulator previously published a “preliminary summary” of the review, detailing steps the manufacturer should take in order to get its plane back into the air. However, the union representing FAA’s engineers argued that the changes are not enough and that the aircraft should have to adhere to tougher standards on cockpit alerts.
“Robust transparency is needed to ensure that independent experts and the public can review whether this aircraft is truly safe before it takes to the skies again,” the lawmakers said in the joint statement.
