Iran defends itself from UK criticism of missile tests

The Iranian Foreign Ministry insisted on Friday that its latest missile tests do not violate the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 after the United Kingdom slammed Tehran over its use of ballistic missiles in military drills.

“Great Britain knows better than others that Iran’s missile program has nothing to do with UNSCR 2231,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh (pictured) stated. “London, [incorrectly] interpreting Resolution 2231, is in fact violating it,” he added.

The comments come after the UK condemned Iran’s use of ballistic missiles in a test launch, stressing that the UN resolution “requires that Iran not undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons – including launches using ballistic missile technology.”
