Johnson: UK must be realistic about int’l travel

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated on Tuesday the public needed to be realistic about the government’s decisions concerning resuming international travel from and to the United Kingdom.

“That doesn’t mean we’ve given up on 17 May,” he said. “I know how impatient people are to book their holidays, but I think we just have to be prudent at this stage.”

Earlier this week, Johnson announced further easing of measures imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 but did not give more details on international travel. That sparked criticism from Heathrow Airport Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Holland-Kaye, who said a “clearer timeline for the return to international travel is needed.”
