UK bans adding Huawei equipment in 5G networks
The United Kingdom will ban the installation of Huawei equipment in 5G networks in the country from September next year, the UK government revealed in a paper on 5G.
Revealing the UK’s 5G supply chain diversification strategy, the UK government stressed that it will now be relying on Ericsson and Nokia for 5G technology. Meanwhile, as revealed earlier, all Huawei equipment will have to be removed from the UK’s 5G netowrks by 2027.
The announcement from the government comes as the British Parliament is expected to discuss the Telecommunications (Security) Bill on Monday.
