Javid on lockdown: No reason to go beyond July 19

The incoming British Health Secretary Sajid Javid stated on Monday that there is no reason for the COVID-19 containment measures in the United Kingdom to extend beyond July 19.

In his first statement before the UK House of Commons, Javid said that the government “can’t simply eliminate” the virus, adding that the Britons are going to “need to learn to live with it.”

“The restrictions on our freedoms must come to an end,” Javid concluded.
