Ramamurti: WH wants ‘more competitive airline industry’
Deputy Director of the National Economic Council Bharat Ramamurti (pictured) stated on Friday that the White House wants to see “more competition in the airline industry.”
To that goal, President Joe Biden’s executive order on competition will direct the United States Transportation Department to review airport slots and market structure issues, the official noted.
The order should force regulators to enforce the antitrust laws “vigorously” and “challenge prior bad mergers” approved by previous administrations, the administration said.
