TikTok suspends talks with UK on new HQ – report
TikTok suspended its negotiations with the British government on moving its global headquarters in London, The Sunday Times reported.
According to the newspaper’s sources, the video platform’s parent ByteDance decided to halt its talks with the Department for International Trade due to the “wider geopolitical context,” which includes the United States’ considering blocking the app and the United Kingdom’s decision to ban Huawei 5G networks.
Earlier this month, it was reported TikTok is discussing possible changes to its business to distance itself from its Chinese roots.
