FBI to join in on Beirut blast probe – US official
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will take part in the Beirut port explosion investigation alongside Lebanese authorities, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale said on Thursday.
Speaking during a visit to Beirut, the former US ambassador to Lebanon added that other international investigators will also take part in the probe. Hale also stated that he will be meeting with Lebanese officials to ask them to implement reforms in the country.
Earlier, the Lebanese government resigned over the blast which destroyed the country’s capital after around 2,500 tons of unsafely stored ammonium-nitrate exploded.
